What is SPARR Revision?

SPARR is a GCSE revision dashboard that helps your child stop guessing what to revise next. It uses short, focused quizzes in Maths, English and Science to:
-
Test knowledge of key GCSE / IGCSE topics
-
Track scores over time
-
Highlight weak and strong topics
-
Give you, as a parent, a clear overview of progress
SPARR is designed to support school and tutoring, not replace teaching. School and tutors explain the content, SPARR makes sure your child can remember and recall it.
Who is it for?

Students in Year 10 or 11 (GCSE / IGCSE)
Following any major exam board (AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge, etc.)
Who already have lessons, but need:
-
More structure in their revision
-
Regular knowledge recall
-
A clear view of what to focus on next
How your child uses SPARR (3 steps)

Step 1 – Choose a subject and topic

-
Open your copy of the SPARR Core Dashboard.
-
On the main screen, use the dropdown menus to select:
-
Subject – Maths, English or Science
-
Topic – e.g. Algebra, Cells, Poetry
-
Sub‑topic (if shown)
-
-
Click the Start Quiz button.
This will take your child to the Recall Quiz sheet.
Step 2 – Answer a 10‑question recall quiz
-
At the top, check if the Subject / Topic / Sub‑topic is correct.
-
Your child will see up to 10 questions in the first column.
-
In the second column (“Answer below”), they type their answers in their own words.
-
Aim to complete the quiz in about 10–15 minutes.

This is knowledge recall, not multiple choice. They should try to remember from understanding, not copy from notes.
Step 3 – Self-mark and record the score
1. Once they've answered all questions, they move the Answer Key sheet.

2. For each question they see.

-
The question
-
Their answer
-
The correct answer

3. They compare and self-mark:

-
Give 1 mark for each fully correct answer.
-
Add up their score into the 'Score out of 10' box.

4. They type their score in to the "Score out of 10 box"

The dashboard then uses these scores to update their weakest topics, strongest topics and recent activity.

Suggested weekly routine & parent check-in

As a starting point, use SPARR like this:

-
3 sessions per week (e.g. Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
-
1 quiz per session (10 questions)
-
Rotate subjects:

-
Week 1: 2× Maths, 1× Science
-
Week 2: 2× Science, 1× English
-
Adjust based on where they feel less confident

Each session should take 15–20 minutes including self‑marking.
Weekly parent check‑in (5–10 minutes)

Once a week, sit down with your child and:

Open the Dashboard sheet.
Look at:

-
Recent scores (are they going up / down?)
-
Weakest topics (what needs attention?)
-
Strongest topics (where are they secure?)

Agree together:

-
2–3 topics they will focus on in the next week’s quizzes.
-
Whether any very weak topics need teacher/tutor help.
Use SPARR as a tool for calm and clarity, not pressure. Regular small sessions matter more than perfection.
